Our cosmetic chemist, Marisa Plescia, is giving a lesson in how dry skin season can effect your favorite scent. Weakened Barrier If your skin is already not happy (dry, itchy, and/or inflamed), fragrance can penetrate the skin barrier more easily and cause even more irritation. Moisturize! Fragrance itself doesn’t remove moisture from the skin, moisturizing before using perfume is a great habit to get into especially if you already have dry or more sensitive skin, or a 'weakened skin barrier' 😉. Lotion is always great for reducing itching and redness. EFFICACY Dry skin can affect how a perfume performs. Moisturizing your skin creates a healthy lipid barrier, which gives fragrance molecules more natural oils to hold onto, helping them smell more evenly AND last longer!
